Chimneyless extractor hood for clean air in the kitchen
Ductless Cooker Hood: A Recirculating Hood for Clean Air in the Kitchen
Ductless cooker hood is an ideal choice for those looking for a stylish and effective kitchen hood. It operates in a closed system without the need to connect to a ventilation duct.
Difference Between Ductless and Ducted Cooker Hoods
A kitchen hood can operate in two modes:
- Closed mode as a recirculating hood with an additional carbon filter (no need for duct connections)
- Open mode as an extraction hood with a built-in metal filter (requires connection via a round or flat duct to a ventilation system)
A ductless cooker hood operates as a recirculating hood in a closed system. Its primary purpose remains the same - to purify kitchen air by removing moisture, dirt, and grease particles. While extraction hoods (open system) are often more efficient and quieter than recirculating hoods (closed system), the visual difference is that recirculating hoods don’t require duct installation, avoiding the need to cover pipes, resulting in a ductless design.
The majority of kitchen hoods can be installed with or without ducts. It is up to the user (and technical conditions at home) to decide whether to have an extraction hood or a recirculating hood.
Island Ductless Cooker Hood
A common reason for choosing a ductless hood is aesthetic appeal. For some users, the hood serves not only as a ventilation device but also as a decorative element. That’s why island recirculating hoods resembling modern, stylish lamps are so popular. They also serve as an additional light source, effectively replacing overhead lighting in the kitchen and living room.
Globalo Tudara Ductless Hood
Globalo Tudara Island Hood (available in black or white) is an example of an elegant device suitable for modern, minimalist, and Scandinavian kitchens.
It operates as a recirculating hood, i.e., without a duct. It is mounted on the ceiling using 4 steel cables, which can be adjusted to efficiently remove moisture and grease during cooking. It adds a sense of lightness to the kitchen and prevents the space from feeling overwhelmed by heavy appliances. It operates from 46 dB, which is an excellent noise level, as a hood running below 50 dB on the first speed setting is considered quiet. The device is energy-efficient, with a high energy class and 4 LED points ensuring low electricity bills.
Globalo Serina Ductless Hood
Another example of a ductless hood mounted to the ceiling using sturdy steel cables is the Globalo Serina Island Hood (available in black or white).
This model resembles a modern, decorative lamp that hangs above the hob, providing additional light and ensuring clean air.
Made from black tempered glass and durable black laminate, it’s ideal for fans of glamour style.
The hood functions as a recirculating hood with an ASC 200 carbon filter, which neutralises odours and absorbs moisture. It operates on 3 speeds plus an additional boost function, which quickly cleans heavily polluted air during intense cooking. The Globalo Serina ductless hood has a 60 cm diameter, and its mounting cables can be adjusted between 50-200 cm.
Globalo Argentelo Ductless Hood
In white, we offer the equally stylish Globalo Argentelo Island Hood. Like the others, it is mounted to the ceiling using adjustable cables.
The Globalo Argentelo ductless hood has a unique feature - decorative LED RGB lighting. It is hidden in the hood’s edges, and the light colour can be adjusted to match the kitchen’s mood and lighting conditions.
Additionally, this model has 3 Power LED lights that effectively illuminate the hob at dusk and in the evening. The hood can be operated via backlit touch controls or remote.
Ductless Hood: Any Shape or Type
As mentioned above, not only island hoods are ductless. Practically any model of kitchen hood can be installed as a recirculating hood (closed system). Proper installation height is required, varying based on the hood and cooker type - gas or electric. An additional carbon filter (typically replaced every 3-6 months) is also needed.
Globalo Boliro Ductless Hood
An example is the Globalo Boliro angled wall hood with a high energy class A. It can function as either an extraction hood or a recirculating hood.
In recirculating mode, it requires a suitable carbon filter. The Boliro model fits a round carbon filter ASC 200. This ductless hood is made of white tempered glass and white lacquered steel and can be painted in any colour.
Ductless Hood: An Alternative to Extraction
Ductless hoods are used in many Polish homes for various reasons, including:
- ventilation infrastructure in the house or flat (in multi-family buildings, the closed system is sometimes the only solution)
- aesthetic considerations (some people prefer a hood without external venting ducts for aesthetic reasons)
- small kitchen size (where a duct cover - chimney, would take up extra space)
If these three reasons appeal to you, choose a recirculating hood, i.e., a ductless hood for your kitchen.
